The EW Foundation raises over $14,000 at its kickoff party. The money, raised Nov. 19 at Club Colette, will benefit EWF’s Kids of Character Outreach Programs.
The EW Foundation began the season on a good note, raising more than $14,000 at its kickoff party.
The money, raised Nov. 19 at Club Colette, will benefit EWF’s Kids of Character, which provides new character education books to low-income communities.
Donors and guests enjoyed cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and signature “Proust Society” spritzers in advance of the sixth annual Musical Brunch: Books, Bellinis and Bel Canto scheduled for Feb. 9.
Founder Loretta Neff spoke about the organization’s mission of providing educational books for children in need.
As always, she closed the evening with a quote from author Roald Dahl.
“I have a passion for teaching kids to become readers, to become comfortable with a book, not daunted.
“Books shouldn’t be daunting, they should be funny, exciting and wonderful; and learning to be a reader gives a terrific advantage.”
The EW Foundation also provides etiquette educational resources to children and young adults.
