India Paull Hancock was chairwoman for the afternoon, which included a Bellini reception on the terrazza, a seated Mediterranean-style brunch, a performance of “POPera” arias by Anne-Marie Campbell and Summer Foley, and remarks from guest of honor Lizzie Post, the great-great-granddaughter of etiquette expert Emily Post.

The opportunity for donors to directly underwrite a book, class, grade or primary school — with the option to facilitate a storytime and book signing — replaced a traditional silent auction.

Gail Worth was honorary chairwoman.

Nearly 100 people attended.

Proceeds will benefit the EW Foundation’s efforts to put character-building books in low-income schools. The programs provide access needed to develop a love of reading, as well as tools to develop valuable social skills for a lifetime.

Loretta Neff is founder.
